Windows 10 Local Accounts

With the introduction of Windows 10, Microsoft added a new kind of user account that ties your Microsoft online account to your local PC. While this is a great concept, Megabytes strongly recommends you don’t use this type of account.

We have seen multiple examples of corrupted accounts which can, in extreme cases, lead to data loss. Because if this, Megabytes will not setup a Microsoft account on any PC. We have found local accounts are far more reliable, and in the unusual circumstance the account does experience a problem, it is much easier to fix.

What I’d you already have a Microsoft account in your PC? Step one is to create a local account. Once this is done, your profile data can be moved.

Using a local account does not mean you can’t use Outlook, OneDrive, or even the Windows Store. All of these work perfectly when using a local account.
